Dick and Mac McDonald relocated to California in search of chances that they felt were lacking in their native New England. After failing in the movie industry, they found success in operating drive-in eateries. They took a chance in 1948 when they streamlined its operations and introduced the Speedee Service System, which featured 15-cent hamburgers. Due to the restaurant’s popularity, the brothers began franchising their concept, with nine outlets becoming operational. Dick and Mac McDonald perfected their Speedee Service System in San Bernadino, which featured a restricted menu of fifteen cent hamburgers, shakes, and fries. The brothers sold 14 franchises, 10 of which became operational restaurants outside of the United States. Altough It is a big company today, it all started with self-leadership.
