Roger Thomas Staubach (born February 5, 1942), sometimes known as “Roger the Dodger,” “Captain America,” and “Captain Comeback,” is an American former professional football quarterback who spent 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).

He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he earned the 1963 Heinsman Trophy, and served in the United States Navy following graduation, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Staubach joined Dallas in 1969 and spent his whole 11-year career with the team. He was the starting quarterback for four of the team’s five Super Bowl appearances. He led the Cowboys to Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XII triumphs. Staubach was voted Super Bowl VI’s Most Valuable Player.
