Why Life Isn’t Fair

One difference between SAS and elite US military unit training is that the SAS will tell you that you must complete a task, course, mission, or whatever by getting from point A to point B. (or maybe from A to B to C to 6 with a side trip to Purple). They don’t say how long it will take you to get there. You’re meant to get there as quickly as possible. You’ll know if you’re taking too long because no one will be waiting for you when you arrive. You’ll probably walk or hitchhike home to pack your belongings and inform Mom that you won’t be joining the SAS.

This can be a big psychological weight, especially given how arduous the mission or trip is in the first place.

  1. A lesson you can learn is that life isn’t fair, the road has no length.
  2. But once you get pass it, people will respect you, although you won’t be popular.
